This work-shop-show not only addresses the "how&why" bullying happens, but also offers useful techniques and information, as well as individual and group coping strategies, such as the International BuddyGuard Initiative, an anti-bullying system that works!

International BuddyGuard Initiative

The International BuddyGuard Initiative evolved as a system in response to what could be most effectively done to help our children now.

This initiative, of the kids, for the kids, specifically protects younger children from bullies while they are at school by having the older children, in grades 6, 7, 8 act as "stand-in," a supportive "big-brother/big sister ."

The International BuddyGuard Initiatives participatory , team-building and interactive structure enables and empowers children individually and as a team by teaching them, amoung other things, and most importantly, how to engage and change the role of the bystander(s) in order to be more supportive to the person being bullied.

Your Medicine Drum Facilitators, Fred and Ruth, will walk with you through this exhilirating interactive and participatory program.

The musical self-empowerment of the Medicine Drum Circle is available to everyone, of all skill levels, or none.

We facilate Medicine Drum Circles for Educational, Children and Corporate needs.

Within the Medicine Drum Circle, we musically access the Medicine Drum Zone, from which our own creative and intuitive rhythm comes into play. Reaching "in the pocket" is always a definitive and exciting moment within the group.

Accessing and connecting to the Medicine Drum Zone instinctively calls into being our innate and dormant power of rhythm. Working at play together fosters tolerance and inclusivity, naturally focusing on individual, as well as team-building self and social skills.

The playful nature of the Medicine Drum Circle experience brings a diversity of people together, intuitively, through the power of rhythm.

The vital and intuitive musical connection between the mind, body and soul heals and unites us, our individualities, as well as our diversities are together, intuitively consulting, creating, united at play...sitting on common ground.

CHILDREN'S MUSIC AND THEATRE PROGRAM: "THE FIRST MUSIC"

The First Music integrates a multi-cultural, multi-level approach that builds on the traditional, intuitive, elemental and ancient structures of world folk-music, song, dance and story-telling. Participatory and interactive, this engaging musico-theatre program for children is as educational, as it is just plain fun!

In the First Music Program, we will be exploring and experiencing, step-by-step, the basics of sound, building soundscapes through the power of rhythm. We begin our musical inquiry with the discovery of the first musical instrument, the human voice...

Follow us further, as we experiment, experience and explore harmony through the vocalizations of our own Inuit Throat Singers, awaken the Drum, the heart-beat of music through the Spirit of the Drums and move to the power of rhythm, dance the Elemental Native.

The engaging multi-level, multi- dicipline approach continues, where we will apply the knowledge gained through the empowering and unifying circle of sharing. Here, we will learn how to work together as a team, as a theatrical troupe, to create, and ultimately perform our very own play through combining the above disciplines based on the legacy of our ancient ancestors, the Earth's First People, the discoverers of the First Music.
